The Rainbow Bridge Poem
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Marcy
Our little "miracle girl" Miss Marcy crossed the Rainbow Bridge on
Tuesday, June 15th, 2011. There will never be another sweetie quite like
Marcy. When Marcy came to us from a puppy mill two years ago she was so terribly ill that she just wanted to be left alone to die. She was approximately 11 years old, deaf from chronic ear infections, bald, malnourished, had a severe heart murmur, and an enormous rectal/vaginal tumor. To make matters even worse, she wore a large, heavy, chain around
her neck! Good Grief! She only weighed about 6 pounds! Marcy's teeth were so rotten that they all had to be removed. She endured numerous surgeries and was such a trooper throughout the ordeal! As Marcy's health improved she developed into a sweet and very silly little old lady! Everyone who
met Marcy couldn't help but love her instantly and her foster siblings
were no exception. Marcy's health declined rather suddenly. X-rays showed that she had severe degenerative arthritis of the spine and she was in terrible pain. No amount of pain medication gave her comfort. It was time to provide our beloved Marcy with complete and total relief. Bless you little Marcy girl...............we miss you terribly.
Shelby
Our dear little old lady,Shelby, crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully on Sunday, June 5th, 2011. She appeared to have suffered a stroke or several small strokes and could no longer find her way around in her foster home or in the yard. Shelby was arthritic, deaf and nearly totally blind, so the added stress of feeling lost and befuddled was too much to bear. Shelby was a dear "gentle soul". When she was happy she would actually smile and her tail would wag leisurely. She puttered around with her foster sister, Hobo, and appeared to enjoy life despite her disabilities - until the end. We are so fortunate to have found her foster Mom, Bev, who accepted her completely and included her as an important part of the family. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know Shelby were truly blessed.
Maggie
Maggie wasn’t with Caring Hands very long before she passed but while she was here, she touched quite a few of our hearts. Maggie came to us not trusting the intentions of people. She was very frightened and she easily startled. When out on
a walk, she got startled, slipped her collar. and bolted from her handler. Searches ensued but we were unable to save her in time before she ran into the road and met an untimely death. She is missed by many who tried to get her to trust us but she
is now safe from fear with her friends on the Rainbow Bridge.
Bear
Bear passed away on January 29th, 2011 due to kidney failure. He was in his forever home where he was much loved! Bear would cuddle with his family and he loved to have his family teach him new tricks. Christmas was wonderful for Bear and he was showered with gifts and lots of love.
Bear was a beloved family member and he will be missed very much. Bear will be waiting for his family at the Rainbow Bridge!
Roanna
Roanna was just a baby when she came to us. She was very shy but she warmed up quickly. Roanna was SO sweet – she always had a kiss and a wag of her tail for her foster family. Unfortunately, shortly after Roanna came to C.H.A.R.M. she became very ill with distemper. Her foster mom, Kate, brought her to the vet immediately but there was nothing that could be done for her. Kate stayed with her to the end until it was decided it was time to let Roanna go in peace. Roanna is now happy and healthy at Rainbow Bridge, forever a puppy.
