Caring Hands Animal Rescue of Minnesota (CHARM)

Mission

Our mission at Caring Hands Animal Rescue of Minnesota is to rescue abandoned, stray and unwanted companion animals whose lives are in jeopardy, and to provide for their medical and behavioral needs.  We then work to place them in pre-screened, permanent loving homes and to provide follow-up support for their families.  We also strive to provide humane education to our surrounding communities.

Purpose

CHARM is a group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and re-homing abandoned, stray and neglected companion animals whose lives are in jeopardy.  Animals are rescued from animal controls, over-populated shelters, inhumane puppy mills, and from homes where - through no fault of their own - the animals are unable to remain with their owners.

CHARM provides a safe haven for these animals in carefully screened, loving foster homes while we tend to their physical, behavioral, and medical needs.  We work with partnering veterinarians and trainers to ensure that our animals receive all routine vaccinations and other necessary veterinary care.  100% of our animals are spayed or neutered before adoption.

CHARM then works to find the perfect home for every animal.  We thoroughly screen all potential permanent homes by conducting an interview, a home visit, and reference checks.  This helps us to place each animal in a home well-suited to its needs and to the needs of its future owners.  We also provide follow-up support to help families and their new pets through the adjustment period.

Through education of foster families, adopters, and the general public, CHARM teaches responsible pet ownership.  We stress the importance of spaying and neutering pets to help stop pet overpopulation as well as raising the public's awareness of the plight of homeless animals and the benefits of adopting an animal in need.  As funds allow, we also help the public by providing low cost microchip clinics and spaying for a female pet when her litter is surrendered.

CHARM strongly believes that all animals deserve respect and should be treated with dignity in all circumstances.  Our overall goal is not to be the biggest rescue or the one that adopts out the most dogs, but rather the rescue that provides the absolute best care possible to its animals and finds them the loving, comfortable, forever homes to enjoy their lives in.
